Lifeguard Training

Interested in a great summer job or challenging career as a professional lifeguard? This American Red Cross course teaches the duties and responsibilities of lifeguards to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies in a professional manner. Successful completion results in a 2-year certification in Lifeguarding that includes First Aid, CPR for the Professional-Rescuer and AED.

Swim Lessons

  • 10:35 am – 11:05 am

A guardian must be in the water with their student for parent-tot, preschool, level 1, level 2-3.

Instructors will be teaching from the deck at all levels.

For level 4-5, Students MUST be able to swim the length of the pool without instructor support or use of the bottom of the pool.

If students are misregistered for a level, there is no guarantee of space in the proper level of class.

Levels

  • Parent-Tot
    • Enjoy water with your child. This class emphasizes parental teaching methods for water adjustment and basic skills. An adult must be in the water with the child throughout the class time. This class is designed to make your child more comfortable in and enjoy being around the water. Instructor will NOT be in the water.
  • Preschool
    • Objective: Orients children to the aquatic environment and helps them gain basic aquatic skills. Note: All skills may be performed with support. No goggles allowed.
      Requirements: No prior level. Guardian required to be in the water and handle participant due to COVID-19 restrictions. Instructor will NOT be in the water.
      Skills Covered: Entering and exiting the water safely, learning to submerge mouth, nose and eyes and breath control, front and back float, changing direction in the water, supportive “swimming” arm and leg actions, comfort in gliding, treading water.
  • Level 1-Introduction to Water Skills
    • Objective: To help students feel comfortable in the water and to enjoy the water safely
      Requirements: No prior level. Guardian required to be in the water and handle participant due to COVID-19 restrictions. Instructor will NOT be in the water.
      Skills Covered: Entering and exiting the water safely, learning to submerge mouth, nose and eyes and breath control, front and back float and recovering to a stand, changing direction in the water, swimming 5 feet on front and back.
  • Level 2-Fundamental Aquatic Skills
    • Objective: To give students success with fundamental skills
      Requirements: Students entering this level must possess a Level 1 certificate or demonstrate all the Level 1 skills. Guardian required to be in the water and handle participant due to COVID-19 restrictions. Instructor will NOT be in the water.
      Skills Covered: Entering water by stepping or jumping in from the side, submerging entire head, blowing bubbles, open eyes underwater, front and back glide, swim 15 feet on front and 10 feet on back, swim on side, life jacket use
  •  Level 3-Stroke Development
    • Objective: To build on skills in Level 2 through additional guided practice
      Requirements: Students entering this level must possess a Level 2 certificate or demonstrate all the Level 2 skills. Guardian required to be in the water and handle participant due to COVID-19 restrictions. Instructor will NOT be in the water.
      Skills Covered: Jump into deep water, head first entry from sitting or kneeling, submerging and retrieving an object, bobbing, survival float for 30 seconds, treading water for 30 seconds, front crawl 15 yards, butterfly 15 feet, back crawl 15 yards, elementary rescues, safe diving, check-call-care
  • Level 4-Stroke Improvement
    • Objective: To develop confidence in the strokes learned thus far and to improve other aquatic skills by increasing endurance through swimming greater distances
      Requirements: Students entering this level must possess a Level 3 certificate or demonstrate all the Level 3 skills. Students MUST be able to swim the length of the pool without instructor support. Instructor will NOT be in the water.
      Skills Covered: diving, underwater swimming, feet-first surface dive, 1 minute of survival floating, treading and back floating, 25 yards of front crawl, breaststroke and back crawl, 15 yards of butterfly and elementary backstroke and sidestroke, compact jump from height in a lifejacket, throwing assists and caring for conscious choking victim
    •  Level 5-Stroke Refinement
      • Objective: Coordination and refinement of strokes
        Requirements: Students entering this level must possess a Level 4 certificate or demonstrate all the Level 4 skills. Students MUST be able to swim the length of the pool without instructor support. Instructor will NOT be in the water.
        Skills Covered: Shallow dive, tuck and pike surface dives, 2 minutes of survival floating, back float and treading water, flip turns on front and back, 50 yards front and back crawl, 25 yards butterfly, breaststroke, elementary backstroke and sidestroke, 2 minutes of survival swimming, rescue breathing

    Sea Monkeys

    Sessions (Monday-Friday):

    Times:

    • Level 1: 11:15 - 11:45 am
    • Level 2: 9:20 - 9:50 am. 10:35 - 11:05 am
    • Level 3: 8:40 -9:10 am

    This year Sea Monkeys is split into sessions based on their swimming ability and endurance!

    Level 1: Can swim 25-50 meters without stopping. May be new to Sea Monkeys this year and completed swim lesson levels 5-6 in the 2019 season.

    Level 2: Can swim 50-100 meters without stopping. Can proficiently swim freestyle and backstroke and has had an introduction breaststroke and butterfly. Would have been in the middle or lower lanes in 2019 season, such as lanes 1-5.

    Level 3: Can swim for 200+ yards without stopping. Can perform all four swim strokes (backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle, and butterfly). Would have been in higher lanes in 2019 season, such as lanes 6-8.

    Notes:

    • Swimmers will be in a lane by themselves, with eight swimmers of similar skill in a session.
    • Coaches will be teaching from the deck at all levels.
    • Students MUST be able to swim the length of the pool without instructor support, the wall or lane line, or use of the bottom of the pool.
    • If students are misregistered for a level, there is no guarantee of space in the proper level of class.
    • Free water bottle or drawstring bag while supplies last with registration!

    Sweat and Swim Bootcamp

    Summer is heating up and so are our workouts!  Come join us and see how the water's resistance packs a PUNCH while cushioning your joints.  Stay cool toning your body while rocking to the beats!

    Patrons are encouraged to:

    • Wear a mask in the locker rooms and on deck.
    • Masks may not be worn in the water! Bring a ziplock bag to keep it dry next to your space in the pool.
    • Maintain social distancing between all patrons.
    • Limit locker room use—it is highly encouraged to come and leave in your swimsuit!
    • Do not enter the facility if you feel sick.
    • Do not share equipment or food, especially items the come in contact with the face.
    • Sanitize your hands before entering the locker room and the pool.

    Limited to 5 participants each day in Phase 2
