The City of Walla Walla has implemented the GovDelivery digital communications platform to distribute news to the public. Residents can subscribe to the topics of their choosing and receive updates from the city via email and/or text message.
With the City’s previous system, staff could only send news by email. The addition of text messaging will allow the city to also reach residents who prefer to receive notifications on their mobile device. Residents can now get timely updates on their cellphone on topics like snow removal, leaf collection, road closures, and more.
The text message service is separate from the email service, so subscribers may select different topics to receive by text from what they receive by email.
Subscribe: Residents who would like to subscribe to receive updates by email and/or text message can do so by visiting this page.
Instructions: Step-by-step instructions for registering for and using GovDelivery are available on the city website. This page also includes a list of available topics.
Residents who already were subscribed to receive email updates from the city through its previous system have automatically been subscribed to the same topics in GovDelivery. To ensure the emails go through, existing subscribers are asked to add cityofwallawalla@public.govdelivery.com and wallawallapubliclibrary@public.govdelivery.com to their email whitelist, address book or safe senders list.
Read news: In addition to being sent out as emails and text messages, the City’s updates are posted on its website at wallawallawa.gov/news.
